A hummingbird returns to the neighborhood she has always known. The gardens are sparse now. The flowers are few. She could leave. She doesn't.
A Thousand Wingbeats is a game about building a nest, one careful material at a time, in a world that is slowly learning to welcome her back. About the quiet things that happen when something small refuses to leave.
She carries one thing at a time. Every trip back matters.
The world fills with flowers nobody planted.
The nest grows one layer at a time. So does everything else.
She came to our balcony on the 22nd floor. Completely committed to something the city had made very difficult.
There was wonder. But also something that worried me. Why was she up here? What had happened to the world below that sent her this far?
I put out a feeder. She came back.
I kept thinking about where she went when she left. Whether she had somewhere to return to.
That question became this game.
Updates on development, the Steam page when it goes live, and the occasional small thing worth sharing.
She's on her way.
Thank you for being here before it begins.
We'll let you know when she arrives.
